It is a belt of specific dimensions provided with hooks to support large loads. They are flexible and very resistant, made of textile material, chemical fibers or even steel cables.
Type of Slings
Slings can be of cable, chain, flat synthetic and tubular synthetic.
1. Flat
These slings are like belts with flat eyes at each end. They are the most used and common.
Its load capacity will depends on the number of layers, the color it has and the arrangement in which it is used (axial, U, loop, 45°, 60°)
Eye and eye
These are special for cargo, machineries, construction materials, etc. They are called eye because at their ends folds are made in the form of eyelets where the object to be maneuvered is hooked.

1.2. Inverted eye
These were created with the same characteristics as the eye and eye, but with the only difference being that they have crooked eyes for greater comfort.

1.3. Endless
These are mainly used to load cylindrical materials such as tubes, rods, tanks, etc.

1.4. Basket or wide body
These have a wider surface which makes the load better distributed and the loading of materials is facilitated.

1.5. With hooks
These are characterized by having a hook either at one of the ends or both, to achieve a faster hooking.

1.6 With ratchet
These work like a belt and they have an insurance system that locks the selected size of the sling.

1.7. Multi-arm
As its name indicates, it has more than 1 connected sling to facilitate the lifting of large bodies, it adds more than one support point.

2. Cylindrical or tubular
This type of slings have a greater duration and load capacity. Their shape allows them greater flexibility and adaptation to the body, thus reducing the risk of slipping. Within the roundslings we can also find eye and eye, inverted eye, endless and multi-arm.
These cylindrical slings can support from 20 to 80 tons, it will depends on the color, number of layers and arrangement. It is recommended for heavy load liftings.

According to material
1. Polyester slings:
They are characterized by being light and flexible that offer great versatility to carry loads of a variety of materials. They are used in vertical lifts. Polyester slings are susceptible to cuts and abrasion, as well as damage from temperatures above 200 degrees.
2. Steel slings:
These types of slings are durable, flexible, strong and abrasion resistant. They are a good choice for tough work environments. They are lighter than chain slings.
3. Chain slings
They are robust and resistant to abrasion, cuts and heat. They are manufactured using a grade 100 chain alloy.
According to their use, they could be classified into:
1.Cargo slings
These cargo slings are used with their ends in the form of eyelets, which allow the load to be lifted and handled in different positions with the help of a crane or hoist.
2. Mooring or lashing slings
They are used with a lashing accessory, thus allowing the cargo to be secured
Slings Load Chart
The slings are manufactured with different colors that allow their maximum load to be identified. In order to calculate the workload limit in the different configurations, we can use the following table to help us. Color, number of layers and layout or mode of use should be considered.
